Your Responsibilities and Duties

Carefully read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to make sure you know all of the rules.

Measure the size and amount of material you will need and figure out how to get it.

Cut, shape, and smooth the wood and other materials (like fiberglass) according to the instructions.

Use raw materials or items that have already been made to build window frames, doors, stairs, and the structure of whole buildings.

Make sure the floor, roof, or drywall is level and fits with the rest of the building by laying it out.

Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items, and then place them where they have been designated by the employer.

Inspect the location and make any necessary repairs or maintenance.

As needed, construct scaffolding and other construction structures.
